Wow, so first I really want to thank the people who donated!
Thanks to your generous donations (over-generous, really!) the site has enough funds to not only go for another year but thanks to what is left over I’m going to add an additional year on top of that.
Besides that the donations went to me buying some books for further study and review on this site:
Stalin’s Peasants: Resistance and Survival in the Russian Village after Collectivization
Doing Nothing: A History of Loafers, Loungers, Slackers and Bums in America
The Overworked American: The Unexpected Decline of Leisure
The Future of Work: How the New Order of Business Will Shape Your Organization, Your Management Style and Your Life
And more books may be forthcoming with the remaining money I have!
Regardless, I also want to inform you guys that there’s a PayPal button on the About page and the sidebar. Any money from there will go to my personal finances. AKA I’ll have full discretion for what I’ll do it with. It’s mostly to support my writing so if that money benefits me in some personal way (non-personal ways are site-related costs like books or site maintenance) it’ll usually be for fairly important things. Travel, food or whatever.
So please feel free to donate to Abolish Work if you want to help me out and support the site, my writings and more content being available.
And again, I want to thank all of you who donated to help keep the site up and running. That first donation (based on my faulty math) meant a lot to me and so did the other ones. I’m not so good at taking compliments or taking hints but I know (as I had a feeling before) that people do actually value this site. I just wasn’t sure they valued it enough to put some money up for it and give me a hand. I’m really glad I discovered I was wrong in this way.
We’ll have an article linked to tomorrow, a review of Working Sucks for Friday and Working Stiff Manifesto review should be forthcoming.
