Hey everyone, couldn’t scrounge together the post on capitalism yet (gotta figure out how to write it out which I will do later tonight and into the morning) but I figured here’s a few bits of cool info to hopefully tie you over:
The site now has a “like” option where you can stay up to date with our Facebook activities.
It also has a “follow” button where you can now follow this blog via emails.
If you have any other widgets you’d recommend please let me know!
Past that I read an interesting from Reason (oddly enough) that is from the Guardian about how less people are not actively looking for jobs. Though this doesn’t necessarily mean people aren’t working. It could mean more unreported acts of labor are happening or more independent or odd jobs are happening that are not as easy to trace or be counted for whatever reason.
Either way, while I support this as a general phenomenon someone asked me a perfectly legitimate question which was more or less what would these people do to support themselves.
Here was my response,
By any means that they can. As less and less people put faith into the system in big ways the bigger the chances are for people to create alternatives that are not only genuinely needed by wanted.
In the mean time these people will probably rely on the same thing people always have. Friends, family, under the table work, odd jobs, mutual aid, independent work, sharing living costs with others and so on.
As for what’s coming up we should have a guest post at the end of the week and my capitalism post should get a rough outline tonight.
I may be busy all or most of Saturday so following up on my outline may prove tricky. If it proves too difficult expect a classic anti-work text to be republished in its stead.
Other than that I hope everyone has a pleasureful, lazy and ludic rest of their Friday!
